Sarah & Joe, May 30th 2010

A few shots of the flowers for Joe & Sarah's wedding tonight at The Driskill. Lots of beautiful pink tones to compliment Sarah's unique dress which had the most intricate pink embroidery I've ever seen! Joe is a fan of succulents so we worked those into the mix too.

Ranunculus, stock, tulips, lisanthus, rose, sweet peas, succulents & gloriosa lily bouquets

May Flower Subscription

Perhaps it was the arrival of the heat which inspired these warm, orange-y pieces this month. The gold freesia smelled divine and was shown off nicely by the fluffy, green viburnum. Freesia is one of the most utilized floral scents in the world of cosmetics and home fragrance---candles, lotions, shampoos and a variety of aromatherapy products use extracts of this bloom to invigorate us all with the intoxicating smell!

In fact, both of May's featured blooms taut some powerful fragrance. Stock--which interestingly enough resides in the same family as cabbage and mustard--exudes a pleasantly spicy scent. I just love the feverfew and button dahlias in this one too---if an arrangement can be adorable, this one is just that:

Tiffany & Brian at Kali Kate Ranch

Tiffany and Brian were married this past weekend in Buda at Kali Kate Ranch. Such a beautiful, Texas setting---as I pulled in the gate, the horses were grazing in a field of pink primrose! The summer heat of days previous had thankfully gone on hiatus (at least for a little while) and the gorgeous outdoor pavilion even had a lovely breeze. Here are some of the pieces we did, aiming for a "Hill Country Chic" feel. Kali Kate has lots of great details--like their stone fireplace covered in pillar candles, and a a half dozen garden nooks where guests can gather, and some amazing wooden tables. Tiffany wanted something simple and elegant. Here's what we came up with:

Bridal bouquet contained hydrangeas, lisianthus and cymbidium orchids, with a collar of variegated pittosporem leaves.

For the cake--gorgeous vendela roses with viburnum & cymbidium ochids

Since the tables were long, we went for something artsy and elegant. The sage-colored burlap runners were made by one of the bride's friends!

Cymbidium orchids were attached to the curly kiwi vines with copper wire, and a little reindeer moss for texture.

Hydrangeas were collared with pittosporem to mirror the bridal bouquets

Congrats Brian and Tiffany!

Colleen & Sam at Camp Lucy

Colleen & Sam had a beautiful spring day out in Dripping Springs for their wedding. Lots of fun details--like Colleen's peacock feather hairpiece (see below) and an exquisite shrug made by a friend(!) and some fun, whimsical polka dot ribbon on their personal flowers. Their colors were blue and green, which fit perfectly with the bluebonnets which were at their peak!!

The Bride's bouquet had hydrangeas, tweedia, buplurem, mums, tulips, delphinium, poppy pods and dusty miller. Lots of texture!

Colleen and Sam were lucky enough to be married in one of the most beautiful, new venues to the Austin area--Camp Lucy--which is not officially open until this Fall. I'm posting a few pictures below (which barely do the space justice). Its all in the details--carved wood, intricate stonework, impeccable landscaping and an impressive collection of Asian antiques sprinkled throughout make this a stunning spot in Dripping Springs.

Mother's Day Vases

A sweet pair of Mother's Day Vases for an Aunt & Grandma whose favorite flower is the Iris. I also couldn't help putting a little gingham into the mix--isn't it some kind of law that all grandma's love gingham???
